Induction Workshop on Humanitarian Negotiation in South East Asia

This workshop aims to develop participants’ capacity to analyze the humanitarian negotiation environment they work in and improve their ability to plan multi-stakeholder negotiation processes. It will introduce participants to practical negotiation tools and methods elaborated on the basis of the latest empirical research conducted by the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation.

  • Planning and evaluating negotiation processes
  • Setting priorities in frontline negotiations

Selection criteria

This workshop is designed to serve the needs of humanitarian professionals with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in operational negotiations. It is open to national and international staff of humanitarian organizations based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Professional pathway

This workshop prepares participants for the Advanced Regional Workshops on Frontline Humanitarian Negotiation which regularly take place in regional hubs. These four-and-a-half day Advanced Workshops further develop the negotiation tools and methods introduced at the Induction Workshop while providing a platform for peer exchanges and simulation exercises.
