Induction Workshop on Humanitarian Negotiation in the Middle East

This workshop aims to develop participants’ capacity to analyze the humanitarian negotiation environment they work in and improve their ability to plan multi-stakeholder negotiation processes. It will introduce participants to practical negotiation tools and methods elaborated on the basis of the latest empirical research conducted by the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation. The workshop will also offer a safe space for participants to share their negotiation experience with peers.

Selection criteria

This workshop is designed to serve the needs of humanitarian professionals with a minimum of 3 years of field experience. It is reserved for national and international staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Professional pathway

This workshop prepares participants for the Advanced Regional Workshops on Frontline Humanitarian Negotiation which regularly take place in regional hubs. These five day Advanced Workshops further develop the negotiation tools and methods introduced at the Induction Workshop while providing a platform for peer exchanges and simulation exercises.
