The participants will further guide the efforts of the CCHN in the elaboration of practical measures to prevent and mitigate the impact of traumatic stress in high-risk environments.
– Create a safe space for open, informal peer-to-peer exchanges on negotiation and stress management practices under pressure across time and contexts. Participants will share their views on the challenges and dilemmas of negotiating in such conditions;
– Connect seasoned humanitarian professionals with direct experience with negotiations under pressure and foster the emergence of a community of practice around these experiences;
– Explore powerful self-care tools and methods to enhance the resilience, personal well-being, capacity and sustainability of humanitarian professionals exposed to extreme environments; and,
– Orient CCHN’s work in the development of negotiation tools, research and methodologies tailored to negotiations under pressure.
The retreat is reserved for field practitioners who previously completed a CCHN Peer Workshop on Humanitarian Negotiation and who have significant experience in negotiations under pressure.
This retreat is part of CCHN’s specialised activities which regularly take place around the world. Other specialised activities include the Training of Facilitators, the Peer Circle Program and other thematic retreats.
The Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation is a joint initiative of WFP, UNHCR, HD, MSF, and ICRC. It was established in 2016 to enhance professional exchanges and peer learning among frontline humanitarian negotiators.
