Kidnapped: The victim, the kidnapper and the negotiator

Event Details

All participants can attend the Contributor Sessions at the CCHN World Summit.

A kidnapping is a terrifying event followed by delicate, discrete negotiations to get a release. The kidnapper, the victim and the negotiator will each have their own perspective. How do the various actors, interests and perspectives interact? Do the expectations and assumptions of the victim and the negotiator necessarily converge, or can they diverge? What are the victim’s rights and who can best represent these, act and decide on his/her behalf? And what about the human factors – behaviour, intuition, empathy – that lie behind the relations with the kidnappers, the captivity, the negotiations? And after release, what does the victim need – and has the right – to know and overcome the traumatic experience?
