The world of Techplomacy: Meeting “Big Tech” in the humanitarian arena
Date: Tuesday 29 August at 4PM (CEST)
THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED.
Please join us for the next meeting of the CCHN Thematic Group on Mis-/Disinformation in Humanitarian Contexts.
During this month’s session, we will be joined by Mark Silverman, ICRC Adviser based in Palo Alto (California), who will introduce us to the world of “techplomacy” – while trying to better understand how humanitarian agencies can leverage new technology and cooperate with “Big Tech” in pursuing humanitarian objectives.
Mark Silverman is an adviser to the ICRC’s Director of Digital Transformation and Data. Previously, Mark served as Deputy Head of the ICRC’s Delegation in Myanmar (2016-2018) and Deputy Head of the ICRC’s Regional Delegation for the United States and Canada (2013-2016). Before starting with the ICRC in 2007, Mark served as Military and Foreign Policy Advisor for Senator Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island.
