When

Dates: 20-22 September 2022
Language: English
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Workshop Fee: Free
Travel and accommodation costs: To be covered by participants
Maximum number of participants: 20

Programme content

During this three-day programme, participants will apply advanced negotiation tools and methods to plan, manage and lead humanitarian negotiations with difficult counterparts. It will provide a safe space to share negotiation experiences.

The Executive Programme will focus on developing the following skills:

  • Designing adequate strategies for complex humanitarian negotiations
  • Sorting information and coping with disinformation in complex environments
  • Leading high-stakes negotiations while managing competing agendas
  • Managing and leveraging risks in frontline negotiations
  • Facing difficult counterparts and regaining trust
  • Constructing a positive dialogue on contentious issues
  • Developing a collaborative alliance and culture in complex environments

The Executive Programme will use practical exercises and simulations to anchor these competences. In doing so, it hopes to contribute to fostering an informal peer network on complex negotiation issues with the support of leading negotiators in the domain.

Applications

Country directors and their deputy (or equivalent responsibilities) benefiting from 10+ years of negotiation experience are invited to apply.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. To enhance the peer learning objectives of the module, the diversity of organisations, as well as a balance of gender and regional perspectives, will be key criteria of the selection process.

Participants are required to commit to the three full days of the workshop.

⚠️ Application deadline: 30 July 2022
All applicants will receive an e-mail response by 5 August 2022.
