Event Details

This onsite Advanced Professional Certificate on Migration in Europe will take place in Athens, Greece. It is designed in collaboration with Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, experts, and operational partners. The session aims to foster the creation of an informal space for professional learning and exchange on multidimensional impacts of emerging issues that impacted vulnerable populations. It provides structures to develop operational and policy approaches across agencies and contexts.

⚠️ This event is only for members of our Community of Practice who have completed a Peer Workshop.

Topics to be covered

The Advanced Professional Certificate will focus on:

  • Deconstructing humanitarian negotiations, the role of a negotiator and the role of a mandator
  • Sense-making negotiation techniques with the Cynefin framework
  • Typology by relationship, object and objective
  • Leveraging facts and norms
  • Risk management, mitigation and leveraging in humanitarian negotiation
  • Negotiating norms

Structure and Time Commitment

The Advanced Professional Certificate will take place from Tuesday 23 November to Thursday 25 November, onsite in Athens, Greece.

Presence during these hours is mandatory for all participants to receive a certificate of participation.

Experienced-Based Learning

This Advanced Professional Certificate on Migration in Europe is part of the APC program which is rooted in experience-based learning. It requires a conscious effort of participants to have informal exchanges on their own negotiation experiences. Through sharing experiences, participants learn from the successes and failures of others. They are also introduced to effective ways to support their peers in a negotiation process.

Selection Criteria

Our Advanced Professional Certificate is designed to serve CCHN community members who have already completed a Peer Workshop and are familiar with the standard CCHN tools and methods from the Field Manual. As space is limited, we will select up to 30 participants on the basis of information provided in the application. Participants are expected to commit to completing the full course onsite in a designated location, or alternatively online, depending on the selected method of participation.

The Advanced Professional Certificate is free of charge to the selected participants.
