From 26 to 30 April 2021, humanitarian interpreters participated in an Online Peer Workshop and Specialized Session for Humanitarian Interpreters organized by the CCHN in collaboration with the Interpreting Department at the University of Geneva. Building Capabilities of Frontline Humanitarian Negotiators in the Gulf Countries

This Online Peer Workshop on Frontline Humanitarian Negotiation aimed to exchange good negotiation pratices and stregthen the negotiation capacities of the Oman Charitable Organization, different Omani charities, the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies (IFRC), Red Crescent National Societies of the Gulf Countries and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It was also a great opportunity to establish a long-term partnership between the IFRC, CCHN and ICRC in the Gulf region.

Changing the Narrative about Women Coping with the Trauma of War and Conflict

As part of the CCHN’s Community of Care initiative to build the resilience of humanitarian frontline negotiations, we collaborate with Intisar Foundation. The foundation works to help and empower women affected by war with drama therapy. Its founder, Her Highness Sheikha Intisar al-Sabah, was motivated to help other women in the Middle East following her experience of the invasion of Kuwait. We were honoured when she joined us to discuss the role of women in negotiation, bringing a focus on building resilience and mental strength.
